Cloudy Conditions Prevail in Chicago Area Sunday, With Chance of Rain in South Suburbs

A cold front that moved through the Chicago area on Saturday has stalled out, which could potentially lead to cloudy conditions, spotty drizzle and even some showers in the far south suburbs of the city.

According to forecast models, that front is also going to cause dangerous conditions on Lake Michigan, with 4-to-7 foot waves that will cause issues not just for swimmers who were hoping to get out for one more dip in the lake before swim season ends on Monday, but also for small craft that planned to be out on the water for the Labor Day weekend.

A high swim risk will likely persist through Monday morning because of the conditions, which are being driven by gusty winds out of the north that are being whipped around the low-pressure system that has stalled out over the upper Midwest.

A human fetus was reportedly discovered on the sidewalk Saturday afternoon in Chicago's Northwest neighborhood of Galewood, according to police.

At around 1:35 p.m., Chicago police said they arrived at the 6400 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue, where the fetus was reportedly found.

Ahead of the Labor Day weekend, Chicago police announced that they impounded at least seven vehicles accused of participating in illegal street racing last week, and said that nearly four dozen more have been targeted for impound.

According to a social media post, authorities said that the vehicles were impounded in accordance with new stricter penalties against illegal street racing.

During the ensuing week, police said that they have identified at least 44 other vehicles that are set to be impounded for participating in the illegal activity.

A tow truck driver was taken into custody after allegedly driving through a red light and slamming into another vehicle Saturday morning in the Loop, causing the vehicle to flip over.

According to authorities, the tow truck was driving in the 100 block of South State Street at approximately 1:39 a.m. when the driver disregarded a red light.

The truck slammed into another vehicle that was going through the intersection, causing it to flip over.
