Here are today's top stories It's Sunday, Sep. 18th. 1 1 Seriously Injured in Car and Semi Crash, Gurnee Police Say One person was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle collided with a semi Saturday evening in north suburban Gurnee, authorities said. The crash was reported at approximately 6:03 p.m. in the area of Route 41 and Ferndale Street. According to Gurnee police, an initial investigation revealed the driver of a Toyota attempted to cross Route 41 when a semi struck the vehicle. The car's driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, authorities said. The semi driver wasn't injured, according to police. On Friday, the Archdiocese of Chicago was informed about two sexual abuse allegations of a minor against Rev. David Ryan, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish in Lake Zurich, Cardinal Blase Cupich said in a letter to parishioners. Cupich added he asked Ryan to step aside as pastor while an independent review board can investigate the allegations, and Ryan agreed to "cooperate fully with our process," which Cupich said will "move forward as expeditiously as possible." According to police, three men were near the street in the 4700 block of South Prairie Avenue right around noon when they were approached by a black Cadillac Escalade. A gunman inside the vehicle opened fire, striking the three men. All three men were taken to University of Chicago Hospital where they were all originally reported to be in good condition. Chicago police responded to a report of a stolen white Kia at approximately 4:53 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Ellis Avenue where an unknown offender broke into the vehicle and then took off, police said. Authorities initially said an 8-year-old boy was inside the car, however, further investigation revealed that there was no child involved in the incident. The boy is safe with his relatives, according to police.
