Museum of Science and Industry to Decommission 50-Year-Old Exhibit in September

It's the end of an era for a long-running, popular exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry that has charmed countless children and families.

But the good news is, you may be able to take a piece of the big top home.

According to a press release, archives from The Zweifel Circus Collection are set to be auctioned off Saturday. Included in that collection, the release says, are objects and artifacts from the "longest-running circus exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry," which is set to be decommissioned this month.

Are You Getting Relief Checks From Illinois? Here's How to Check Your Rebate Status

Roughly six million Illinois residents are slated to receive income and property tax rebates from the state of Illinois over the next several weeks.

Under Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Illinois Family Relief Plan, which was approved in April, one-time individual income tax and property tax rebates are now being issued to those who meet certain criteria.

"The Illinois Family Relief Plan continues to fight inflation and lower costs for the people of our state during these challenging economic times," Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton said in a statement last week. "Income and tax rebates are on the way to ease the burden and provide support to families throughout the state. Our administration cares and will continue to do all it can to make Illinois one of the best states in the nation to live."

Suburban Naperville Home Catches Fire After Being Struck by Lightning

As strong storms pummeled the Chicago area Sunday evening, a home in suburban Naperville caught fire after being struck by lightning, officials say.

According to the Naperville Fire Department, at 10:59 p.m. Sunday, the Naperville Fire Department received a call from a resident saying that their home in the 4600 block of Cork Tree Drive had caught fire following a lightning strike.

24 responders and 10 fire apparatuses were then dispatched to the home, a bulletin from the department said.
