Rayzell Glover, 21, of Chicago.

A 21-year-old man who was wanted for murder in connection with a shooting in Chicago was arrested by police in Mundelein on Friday.

The Chicago Police Department said Rayzell Glover, 21, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

The charges are in connection to the death of Lenell R. Taylor, 29, who died on February 1.

Taylor was outside just after 12 p.m. that day in the 2000 block of West 67th Street in Chicago.

Prosecutors said Glover and a second suspect drove to the area and exited their vehicle after spotting Taylor, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The two suspects began shooting at Taylor and he was hit by multiple bullets and fell to the ground, prosecutors said.

45 shell casings were recovered from the scene, the Sun-Times reported.

Glover and the second unnamed suspect fled the scene in their vehicle.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene, police said at the time.

The Sun-Times, citing police, reported that Glover is a member of the Boco gang and the shooting took place in rival gang territory.

Police said Sunday morning that they arrested Glover in Mundelein on Friday. He remains held in custody without bond.

A man was arrested after he fled the scene of a crash on Interstate 94 near Gurnee and two Lake County Sheriff’s Office canines helped officers recover a gun that he allegedly ditched, officials said.

The Illinois State Police said they were called around 12:30 p.m. on Friday to eastbound Interstate 94 at mile marker 8.75 in Gurnee.

District 15 troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Two occupants from one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot, state police said.

The Gurnee Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist in the search.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said their canines Boomer and Duke were sent to the scene.

A witness told police that one of the subjects who fled was armed with a firearm.

Officers located both subjects in the 5700 block of Northridge Drive in Gurnee and arrested them, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said.

Canine Boomer began an evidence search for over an hour looking for the firearm.

Canine Duke was called to assist in the search due to the search area being very large, the sheriff’s office said.

Duke successfully recovered a firearm in a yard during the search.

“The neighborhood was very grateful for the time and diligence the K9s put in locating the evidence to keep their neighborhood safe! Good boys Boomer and Duke!” the sheriff’s office said.

Illinois State Police said one of the two subjects who fled the scene was charged.

Court records show Kenny L. Brown, 28, of Galesburg, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, improper traffic lane usage and illegal transportation of liquor by a driver.

Brown is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.

A court hearing is scheduled next in the case for June 15.

Congressman Brad Schneider has introduced legislation to rename the Grayslake post office in honor of a Lake County native and U.S. Army soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.

Schneider (IL-10) on Friday introduced the bipartisan legislation to rename the post office in Grayslake to “Army Specialist Joseph 'Joey' W. Dimock II Post Office Building.”

“On Memorial Day Weekend, our nation honors the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. We are called on to recount their stories and keep their memories alive,” Schneider said.

Army SPC Joey Dimock joined the Army and began his service in August 2007.

He served for nearly three years with the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Dimock was serving his third overseas deployment, his second in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, when he died on July 10, 2010, during an explosion in Salerno, Afghanistan.

Dimock received several awards through his years of service to our country, including the Bronze Star Medal and Army Commendation Medal.

“Army Ranger Joey Dimock is one of these fallen heroes. He volunteered for service in 2007, served on three overseas deployments, and tragically lost his life in Afghanistan in 2010,” Schneider said.

Dimock was born in Libertyville and grew up in Wildwood. He graduated from Warren Township High School in Gurnee.

He was a member of the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, Boy Scout Troop 672 where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and swam on the Warren Blue Devils swim team.

“Joey is a role model to all who knew him, and I hope that, with this memorialization of Joey's life, his service and bravery may serve as a model for all of Grayslake and that his memory will always be a blessing,” Schneider said.
