This week, we check in with Nerdette’s “resident epidemiologist,” the ever-helpful Dr. Emily Landon. She’s an infectious disease specialist at the University of Chicago, and she always has good advice about where we are and what we need to do when it comes to COVID. (The main takeaway? Masks are still a good idea.)

Hi Nerd! Hope you’re hanging in and taking care. Here are some bright spots from my week that you might like too:

Neruda on the Park by Cleyvis Natera is out this week! I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet, but you might remember Xochitl Gonzalez recommended it when she was on to talk about Olga Dies Dreaming.
Speaking of books, I had the pleasure of raving about some of my favorites last week with my buddy Jacoby Cochran on City Cast Chicago!
This hummus ***with dolmas on top*** looks phenomenal.

And here are some things that are making Anna, our producer, happy this week:

I cannot stop thinking or talking about Heartstopper on Netflix. It’s the queer, high school romance we have all been missing in our lives.
Fried boiled eggs?! It’s Ottolenghi so it must be good??
I had no idea that this crazy house from American Gods by Neil Gaiman is real! And so weird!
