Defense lawyers rested their case Friday in R. Kelly's federal trial in Chicago on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges.
The trial closed its fourth week at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse following three days of testimony by Kelly's co-defendant and former business manager, Derrel McDavid. Closing arguments are set for Monday.
During two previous days on the stand fielding questions from his lawyers, McDavid cast himself as a dutiful employee who assembled a crack legal team to protect his star client's multimillion-dollar career. McDavid said he then believed Kelly's denials when the singer was accused of having sex with underage girls.
