Asylum Seekers From Texas Arrive at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, Officials Say

Officials in Chicago say that at least 12 asylum-seekers arrived at O'Hare International Airport this week, with all 12 being taken to a local police station after they told officers they had no access to shelter or food.

The individuals were taken by police to the District 16 office, according to Chicago officials.

It was not immediately clear whether they were flown to Chicago as part of the ongoing effort by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to send asylum seekers and migrants to so-called "sanctuary cities" across the U.S., a group that includes Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.

Gov. Pritzker Announces Change to COVID-19 Requirements in Illinois

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's administration on Thursday announced a change to the state's COVID mitigation strategies.

Among the new guidelines was an update to testing requirements for school and childcare employees. Unvaccinated employees in those settings will no longer be required to twice twice weekly.

Starbucks Recalling Espresso Drink Sold in Illinois Stores Over 'Possible Metal Fragments'

A Starbucks espresso drink sold in stores across seven states, including Illinois, is being recalled over possible contamination with foreign material, an alert from the Federal Drug Administration says.

Cases of 15 oz. bottles of the Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot drink sold in Illinois, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas are affected, according to the FDA.

The recall is due to possible contamination with foreign material, specifically "metal fragments," the FDA alert says.

Health Department Reports Outbreak of Gastrointestinal Illness Linked to Suburban Restaurant

Health officials are investigating an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness believed to be linked to a popular suburban restaurant.
