A 16-year-old girl who went missing a week and a half ago from Wisconsin and was spotted in the Lake County area has been located safe, her family said.

Jason Camara told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that his 16-year-old niece, Fiona Daujotas, went missing from her home in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, early in the morning on June 18.

Daujotas ran away from her parents and crossed the state border into Lake County around 3 a.m. on June 18, Camara said.

Daujotas reportedly went to her grandparents’ home after crossing the border near Kenosha Street and Fifth Street in Zion.

Camara’s son was staying at the house and Daujotas asked him for a ride to Waukegan after telling him she had a fight with her parents.

Daujota collected supplies, like food, from her grandparents’ home before she left hours later.

Camara said Daujota shaved her head and changed her clothes.

She possibly went to the Waukegan train station and may have later boarded an Amtrak train.

Police were seeking the public’s help in locating her.

On Wednesday, Camara said Daujota had been located safe after she turned herself into a police department.
