Police are searching for the driver of a boat that struck a jet ski, injuring a man, and fled the scene on the Fox River near McHenry Sunday evening.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 8:24 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of River Terrace Drive in Johnsburg for a report of a water rescue.

The incident happened on the Fox River at the 105 mile marker, according to Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director of Communications Jayette Bolinski.

A 38-year-old Algonquin man was traveling south on the Fox River on a personal watercraft.

A white and red runabout boat struck the man from the rear starboard side, Bolinski told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.

The victim was ejected from the watercraft into the water.

He was wearing a personal flotation device. Bystanders reportedly rescued the man from the water and brought him to shore.

Paramedics transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Bolinski said the victim suffered injuries to his shoulder and knee that were believed to be non-life-threatening.

The boat did not stop after the crash and was reportedly seen entering a nearby channel, Bolinski added.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police were called to the scene and are investigating.

Anyone who has information about the collision is urged to email the conservation police at todd.semenik@illinois.gov.

Jesus J. Nunez-Garcia, 30, of Aurora.

A 30-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly sold a large amount of marijuana to undercover agents in McHenry County, state police said.

Jesus J. Nunez-Garcia, 30, of the 1100 block of Ridgeway Avenue in Aurora, was charged with two counts of manufacturing or delivering cannabis, Class 1 and 3 felonies.

A spokesperson for the Illinois State Police said officers with the Illinois State Police North Central Narcotics Task Force conducted an undercover narcotics operation.

Nunez-Garcia was the subject of the operation and he sold narcotics to an undercover agent on multiple occasions, the spokesperson said.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said Nunez-Garcia sold 30-500 grams of cannabis to an undercover agent on May 10.

The man also sold 2,000-5,000 grams of cannabis to the agent last Tuesday, the complaint said.

Investigators arrested Nunez-Garcia following the completion of the second deal, state police said.

McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis initially set bond at $100,000, court records show.

McHenry County Judge David Gervais later reduced Nunez-Garcia’s bond to $40,000 on Friday.

The man remains held in the McHenry County Jail and would need to post $4,000 cash in order to be released.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 15.
