We took a bit of a hiatus (or a lot…) but we are back in your inbox once a month to share awesome events you won't want to miss. And if you follow us on Eventbrite, we'll always let you know when there are new events for you to check out. You know what August means: The school year is just around the corner. We're partnering with Association House of Chicago for their 16th Annual Back 2 School Fair and with Illinois Latino News for a free virtual event discussing mental health in Chicago Public Schools.   Date: Aug. 11  Admission: Free   Open Mic Night: Join WBEZ's Anna Savchenko and other WBEZ reporters for a night of storytelling. This event is open to all and sharing personal stories connected to the war in Ukraine are welcome. REGISTER Date: Aug. 18  Admission: Free  Community Conversation: Ahead of the school year, WBEZ and Illinois Latino News want to share resources to support students' mental health. This virtual event will be crafted based on direct feedback from Chicago parents. REGISTER Date: Aug. 26  Admission: Free  Summer Skate Party: We’ll be transforming the McKinley Park ice rink into the retro roller rink of your dreams. Join us for some good tunes and good vibes. REGISTER This September, we’re bringing the choir to Chicago. Join us on Sept. 23 to celebrate and sing some of the greatest songs by Chi-town artists in Choir! Choir! Choir! Date: Sept. 8   Admission: Free  Reclaimed Soul: Enjoy an evening of vintage soul on vinyl with Vocalo radio host and DJ Ayana Contreras. This family-friendly event features special guest musical performances and a discussion on all things soul. REGISTER Date: Sept. 23  Admission: $25  Choir! Choir! Choir!: Join us to celebrate the power of the human voice. Creative directors Nobu Adilman and Daveed Gold will teach you and the other audience members an original arrangement to a song you love. Sept. 24-25  Hyde Park Jazz Festival The Hyde Park Jazz Festival is an event dedicated to supporting and uplifting jazz music, particularly on the South Side of Chicago. No registration required.
